A few weeks back, right before a big winter storm in the southwest Montana, I saw my first Red Wing Blackbird. I have always associated the arrival of this beautiful bird with the onset of spring. The next morning there was 8 inches of white snow on the ground, but low and behold, a few short days later we hit 60 for the first time this year. Now, despite fresh snow on occasion, the avian signs of spring are all over the place, and the bird songs fill the air.
Spring is here in Montana, and the migrating birds are too!
