Springtime on the Madison

The month of March is looking alot like late April this week. temperatures in the Gallatin valley have been in the mid 50's with the weekend forecast predicting low 60's. All sorts of good things are beginning to happen. The return of the birds is building. In the past week, sandhill cranes, red winged blackbirds, and killdeer have all been companions on the rivers of the Gallatin valley. Last night on the lower Madison I saw my first of the year Osprey, my favorite bird. Meanwhile on the waters surface, midges in good numbers were floating lazily down river. It is looking like a very good spring is in the works!
